Wow, this one took me by surprise. I was remotely aware of «Folk» Metal through the Blackmore's-Night-pointy-hat-wearing-renaissance-faire type stuff and completely unaware of Tverd or their direct predecessor, Pagan Reign. Man, was I missing out on some outstanding metal.

A sterling example of how Russian metal has finally caught up with the West in terms of pristine sound production and mixing, Follow the Sun’s Way is also fundamentally as good as pagan/folk metal gets.

It was 2007 when Pagan Reign, one of the best Russian folk pagan black metal bands, decided to split-up. The loss is great, but at least two of its members (Vetrodar and Demosthen) formed a new band Tverd, that is ready to take Pagan Reign’s place in our hearts.

Pas évident de deviner la provenance de ces zikos là tant la musique qu’ils pratiquent est plutôt l’apanage des formations Scandinaves. Pas si éloigné que cela géographiquement car ayant une frontière commune avec la Finlande il s’agit évidemment de la Russie.
